The Meghalaya High Court is the High Court which is for the state of Meghalaya. It was established during the March 2013, after making the suitable amendments in the Constitution of India and North-Eastern Areas that is the(Re-organisation) Act, 1971. Earlier, a bench of the Guahati High Court used to have the jurisdiction over the state of Meghalaya. The seat of the High Court is at Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya. Strength of judges are for this High Court is 3 permanent judges which are inclusive of the Chief Justice. The first Chief Justice which is appointed is Hon’ble Mrs. Justice T. Meena Kumari,who retired on the 3 August 2013 and Hon’ble Mr Justice T. Nandakumar Singh, who has taken the charge as the Permanent Judge of Meghalaya High Court on 23rd March 2013, was appointed as Acting Chief Justice w.e.f. 3.8.2013. Justice T. Nandakumar Singh who was elevated as an Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court on 25.11.2004 and became Permanent Judge w.e.f. 27.2.2006 of Gauhati High Court. Hon’ble Mr Justice Sudip Ranjan Sen was elevated as Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court on 6.2.2012 and he took oath as the Additional Judge of Meghalaya High Court on 23.3.2013.
