Municipal Service Commission was first constituted under the Calcutta Municipal Corporation Act 1980, by a notification of the State Government dated 22nd March, 1984. Its predecessor however, was the Calcutta Municipal Service Commission which came into being with effect from January, 1954. This Commission therefore can be called an organisation with about 55 years of existence. Duties and functions of this Commission have emanated from the provisions of Sec. 19 of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation Act 1980 which reads as “Appointment to a Category A or a Category B post shall be made on the recommendation of the Municipal Service Commission”. The upper age limit for KMC employees possessing requisite qualification prescribed for direct recruitment to the post of Asstt. Engineer (Civil) in the KMC will be relaxed upto 50 years as on 1 st January, 2015
Sub-Assistant Engineer (Civil) 13 Essential – i) A Diploma in Civil Engineering from the State Council for Engineering or Technical Education or its equivalent. ii) One year’s practical Training or studying or research or practical engineering experience in the Municipal Engineering work. Desirable: – Working knowledge in computer is preferable. PB-4 Rs.9000- 40500/- G.P. – 4400/- Lower and upper age limits are 18 and 42 years as on 1 st January, 2015 respectively.
School Inspector (Bengali Medium) 05 Essential: i) Second Class Honours or Second Class Masters’ Degree in any discipline from a recognized university or equivalent and minimum 55% marks in Madhyamik and 50% marks in Higher Secondary or equivalent from a recognized Board/Council. ii) A Bachelors’ Degree in Teaching of Education (B.Ed.) from a recognized University or equivalent (N.C.T.E. approved). iii) Good knowledge of Bengali spoken and written. iv) Ability to undertake extensive tour on official duty. Otherwise he / she will be considered not eligible for the Personality Test / Interview.
